So we are in Day 14 of Lent. Thank You for patiently journeying with me on this series WhyJesusCametoDie. We have looked at 12 reasons so far.
Reason 1 Reason 2 Reason 3 Reason 4 Reason 5 Reason 6 & 7 Reason 8 Reason 9,10,11,12
Today we look at 2 more reasons as to WhyJesusCametoDie?
Reason 13 – To Abolish Circumcision and All Rituals as the Basis of Salvation
Reason 14 – To Bring Us to Faith and Keep Us Faithful
Our Salvation cannot be earned. Its a gift from God. Rituals like circumcision has no role in our Salvation. If Circumcision or any ritual or any human work was necessary, the death of Jesus on the cross will go meaning less. Apostle Paul in his Epistle to Galatians writes
Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished
Galatians 5:11
Circumcision was ordained by God to Abraham (Genesis 17:10); However after Jesus Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, we see that we just need to believe in Christ, thats why Paul says If he was preaching circumcision, he wouldn’t be persecuted. Also Why would Paul still be persecuted, then? If he were preaching that old message, no one would be offended if he mentioned the Cross now and then—it would be so watered-down it wouldn’t matter one way or the other. So along with the message of Cross it’s important to convey that there is no circumcision or any ritual or religiosity involved with Salvation. Salvation is a gift from God to humanity.
No Religiosity is associated with Salvation, It’s by believing in Christ we are Saved. The beautiful aspect is, the work of Jesus on the cross, brings us to Faith and Keep Us Faithful. God sustains our Faith through reverence for Him rather than mere Fear. God inspires us. It’s not like following & obeying a list of instructions (law), its beyond the Moral Compass, its about heartfelt change that will sustain us in Faith and remain faithful to God.
He establishes a new Covenant that’s everlasting, He brings us to Faith and keeps us Faithful
40 I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me.
Jeremiah 32:40
When Christ died, he transformed our hearts. He will not let them turn from him. He will keep them. They will
persevere. The blood of the new covenant guarantees it. Examine your hearts and ensure you are part of this everlasting covenant.
Spiritually invigorating. Helps us to understand God’s word indepth and get more closer to him.
Thanks Annan for your encouraging words. All Glory be to God.
