We saw sin is failure to meet target of Life according to God’s standards. Any amount of Good works cannot bring us to God’s Standards.
Paul in Romans 1:17 writes “The righteous will live by Faith”, which means that if you are righteous and have faith in Jesus you will live (Saved). Here in Ephesians Paul writes “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God”. So, the “Good News” is Through Faith in Jesus Christ, we are made righteous and we live eternally.
It is by the Work of God we are Saved. We see all three persons of the God-Head in the Work of Salvation. His abundant Love, His amazing Grace, Holy Spirit of God that convicts us of our sin to have Faith in Him to become the Christ-likeness we ought to be – the new creation, the born-again, the re-generated, the transformed. Conversion to Christ-likeness is a change of mind triggered from a change of heart and leading to a change of life.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast Ephesians 2:8,9
