Our Quest on for #WhyJesusCametoDie has come to Day 9. We have seen 8 reasons as to #WhyJesusCametoDie.
Reason 1 Reason 2 Reason 3 Reason 4 Reason 5 Reason 6 & 7 Reason 8
Today we will be looking at Reason 9 – Jesus came to die For the Forgiveness of Our Sin. We read in Paul’s Epistle
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace – Ephesians 1:7
Forgiveness has “give” in it. It’s not “getting” even. It’s actually giving away the right to get even. If I am injured by you and if I let it go and don’t sue you, I forgive, that’s Grace. Grace gives what someone doesn’t deserve. This is what God does to us when we trust Christ. If we believe in Christ, God no longer holds our sins against us (Acts 10:43)
But, forgiveness is not enough. Imagine a society where judges simply ask criminals, “Are you sorry?” and, upon hearing a “Yes,” respond with, “Alright, you’re forgiven. You may go.” No consequences. No accountability. Would such a society hold together? Absolutely not.
While forgiveness is a virtue—something individuals can extend from a place of grace—the role of justice cannot be ignored. A victim may have a forgiving heart, but the state has a responsibility to uphold justice. Without it, chaos would reign, and wrongdoing would go unchecked.
True forgiveness and justice are not opposites; they work together to create a fair and moral society. Forgiveness heals the heart, but justice upholds order. One cannot replace the other
God’s Justice also works in the same way. His justice will no more allow him simply to set us free than a human judge can cancel all the debts that criminals owe to society. The injury done to God’s glory by our sin must be repaired so that in justice his glory shines more brightly.
This is why Christ suffered and died. “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins” (Ephesians 1:7)
What a priceless truth—it’s beyond measure! God does not hold our sins against us. He doesn’t keep a record of our failures, waiting to condemn us. Instead, He offers us grace.
And how beautiful is Christ, who made this possible! His blood wasn’t just spilled in suffering; it was poured out in love, making it right for God to forgive us. Through Him, justice and mercy meet, and we stand redeemed.
This is the Good News—one that changes everything!
