If you’ve stepped into a traditional church on a Sunday morning, you’ve heard it—a rhythmic, collective murmur that rises from the pews. It’s the Nicene Creed. For some, it might feel like a ritualistic “repeat after me,” but for We “the Faith People,” these words are the bones of our identity.
The Nicene Creed is the most comprehensive faith statement in Christian history. Written centuries ago to safeguard the truth, it remains our weekly “north star.” We affirm it every Sunday not to memorize a history lesson, but to re-align our hearts with the reality of who God is and who we are in light of Him.
In the We “the Faith People” blog series, We are expanding our Faith by answering hard questions in Christian Faith. What we believe & confess does have a solid logic and reasoning behind it. From the very words of the Nicene creed, we are elaborating those questions to strengthen our Faith. When we connect the dots, we see a beautiful, albeit broken, story of our existence.

The Nicene Creed
We1 believe in one God2,
the Father22, the almighty,
maker of heaven and earth3,
of all that is,
seen and unseen31.
We believe12 in one Lord11, Jesus Christ6,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God9,
begotten, not made23,
of one being with the Father24.
Through him all things were made3.
For us men and for our salvation4 10
he came down13 from heaven;
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and was made man8.
For our sake27 he was crucified14 under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death7 and was buried.
On the third day34 he rose again15
in accordance with the scriptures32;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated25 at the right hand of the father26.
He will come again in glory27
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom30 will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit18,
the Lord, the giver33 of life 20,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son19.
With the Father and the Son he21 is worshipped37 and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe39 in one holy catholic and apostolic Church33.
We acknowledge17 one baptism37 for the forgiveness16 of sins5.
We look40 for the resurrection of the dead28,
and the life of the world29 to come. Amen
