What emotions have dominated your thoughts in the recent past? Were they positive emotions or were they negative emotions? Are you saying it was Stress, Anger, depression, Fear? Are emotions like Peace, Happiness, Satisfaction dominating your thoughts? With reasonable confidence, I can assume you answer would have been a negative emotion.

Why is that? It’s mostly because of “life”; the uncertainty of what’s happening/going to happen in life. So what do I do?

Human beings are Energy beings. There are three aspects to a Person – his body, his soul & his spirit. The body is through which you act, what you speak, what you do, what you write etc .The soul is the one which represents your character, its your mind and emotions which determine your will. The Soul is the one which makes you a thinker. Your decisions come out of your will, which is expressed as actions through your body.

The spirit is the inner most being – It’s about intuition, conscience & communication. The state of your spirit determines your emotions, it impacts your mind. The spirit controls your intents; When the uncertainty of life, creates a negative intuition asking “why?”, our emotions are negative. Why couldn’t I get good marks? Why are my parents always asking me to study? Why am I not getting a raise in my job? Why did I lose that game of Chess? Why is my Neighbour behaving like that? Why is he/she is making lot of money?

If these “why?’s” are dominating your intuition & conscience; it means you fear “uncertainties” of life. Those uncertainties dominate you, How do I overcome them? Just flip the “why” to “what”.

What can I do to get better marks? What reasons could be behind my parents asking me to study? What can I do to get a raise in my job? What can I do to improve my game? What’s in my control that I can do for my promotion? What steps can I take to increase my income? When we ask these questions dominate your conscience, your emotions become positive, leading to a positive mind resulting in better decisions & actions.

This flip from Why to what is easier said than done. It requires constant realization and reinforcement. Jesus in the Gospel of John gave a great thought, In chapter 6 verse 63 he says

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.

John 6:63

Our Spirit is what gives life; it’s what makes up our life. Normally, Christian messages on this chapter will be focused more on Eternal Life that Jesus promises after the earthly life. But it holds a lot of meaning to Life on this earth as well. Unless our Spirit generates the right intuition & conscience, our life is not going to be right.

So when Jesus says, The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing; it means the inner being in you is what makes up life and the outer body counts for nothing. Jesus also says that HIS words are full of Spirit and life. Therefore, if we fill ourselves with HIS words and remain in constant communion with HIM, God’s own Spirit acts on us. Our Spirits will generate the right intuitions & conscience.

Are we ready to do that? Mediating the word that God has given and being with HIM will make our Spirit right. Infact the Bible says, the Spirit of God, HIMSELF will dwell in us. Our Spirit regenerated with God’s Spirit gives meaning to our life. That’s the state we all need to get to, so that we have the right conscience leading to right emotions that get our minds aligned, to build a will and to make right decisions that translates to bodily actions.

So today start flipping the Why’s to What’s? Ask yourself “What is God’s word asking me to do?” or “What would Jesus do”? Allow God to fill you with HIM.
