Jesus Christ should be the Epi-center and we should be in the circumference – Theologian John Scott.
Three aspects Discipleship as we mediate today’s Scripture portion John 3:22-30
“He must increase; I must decrease”
1) Compulsion to discipleship (Must have’s)
3 must haves to discipleship. There are 3 musts in John chap 3 – Re-birth (John 3:7), Redemption (John 3:14) & Reduction (John 3:30). This is the compulsion which we are called to discipleship. I should hide mySelf and Jesus should be visible.
2) Conditions to discipleship
Selflessness (John 3:28), Servant-hood (friend of the bridegroom, John 3:29), Source of his coming (Christ is above all John 3:31)
3) Consequences of discipleship (Benefits/Blessings of discipleship)
Commissioned by the Spirit of God (John 3:34), Character of simplicity & controlled life-style (John’s character Matthew 4), Courage to do God’s mission. (Matthew 4:14)
May the Lord give us Courage & commitment to go in to the world to be truthful witnesses to Jesus Christ and be a model to others.
- Compulsion – Re-birth, Redemption, Reduction

- Consequences – Commission, Character, Courage
