Apostle Paul’s Epistle to Romans, highlights God’s Boundless Love & Christ’s Amazing Grace. The book also walks us through our nature and the means to Christian living. As believers who have heard & believed the good news, we have an urgent news to act on and come out of our daily news. Let’s look at those

The bad news is sin always offends God and harms people

“As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.’ ” – Romans 3:10-12

The good news is Jesus paid for our sin and provides righteousnes

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 8:1

The daily news drives us to depend on Jesus

“For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” – Romans 7:18

The urgent news motivates us to lead a life pleasing to God

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.” – Romans 12:1

This is how I would summarize the Epistle of Romans – Pursue Christ-likeness. It’s a call for Urgent Action from our Daily state because we believe the Good News that has put away the fallen (bad) state.

Few Years back, Along with our Church Sunday School boys we enacted this truth as a short film. Do watch when you get sometime

In June, during my re-reading of Romans, got the below one line insights from each chapter, do read through

1

God’s righteousness (Salvation) is for everyone who has Faith in Christ

Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed —a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

2

Heart Transformation by the Spirit of God is the hallmark of a Christian

Romans 2:28-29
A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.
No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is *circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit*, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.

Let the Holy Spirit of God circumcise our hearts. *Happy Pentecost sunday*

God made us Just through Jesus Christ. Amazing Grace & Abounding Love

Romans 3:21-26
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement*, through the shedding of his blood —to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished —
he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

4

Faith in God is credited as righteousness

Romans 4:21 — 4:25
being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

5

Reconciliation guarantees the security of God’s People

Romans 5:9—11
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, *how much more* shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, *how much more*, having been reconciled, shall we be *saved through his life!*
11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation

6

Continuing in sin means Christ is not accepted

Romans 6:1-4
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

7

My desire to do good and doing good is deliverance that comes from Christ

Romans 7:18, 19, 24,25
18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.
19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.
24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?
25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!

*The HOLY SPIRIT strengthens (in us) when our human SPIRIT weakens (in us)*

Romans 8:26-30
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the *Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans*.
27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the *Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God*.
28 And we know that *in all things God works for the good* of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

9

*Grace, Mercy & Justice are under God’s Sovereignty*

#Romans 9

10

*Carriers of Christ have beautiful feet*

*Gospel cycle: Sent-Preach-Hear-believe-calls-Saved*

Romans 10:13-15
for, “Everyone who *calls* on the name of the Lord will be *saved*.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not *believed* in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not *heard*? And how can they hear without someone *preaching* to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are *sent*? As it is written: *“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”*

11

*In His Grace, God Faithfully Preserves Believers*

Romans 11:4-6
4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”
5 So too, *at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace*.
6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace

12a

Pursue Christ-like-ness

Romans 12:1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will.

12b

Sincere Love discerns good & evil

Romans 12:9-16
9 *Love must be sincere*. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.

13

Submission to God, helps us do right & facilitates submission to Authority

Romans 13:1-3
1 Let everyone be *subject to the governing authorities*, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.
3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then *do what is right and you will be commended*.

14

Kingdom of God is about what’s within & not externals

Romans 14:16 – 19
Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil. For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval.
Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

15

Word of God teaches endurance & provides encouragement to abide in Christ

Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

God’s Mission is Christ-Centric & Inclusive

#Romans 16:1-16
Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus.
……..
Greet one another with a holy kiss.
All the churches of Christ send greetings.

16b

God brings everyone to Him by obedience from Faith through Jesus Christ

Romans 16:25-27
25 Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, *the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ*, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,
26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the *obedience that comes from faith* —
27 to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.

Would end this blog with a song made based on Romans
